Drainage Sump Pump System
Cypress, CA
New detached garage and ADU project: a precise grading and drainage plan, including a proposed backyard sump pump to capture stormwater runoff.
The site had an existing cross-drainage issue at the rear property line where stormwater runoff from the site was discharging onto the neighbor's property. The agency having jurisdiction (AHJ) over the project required this issue to be corrected as a condition of approval for the new detached garage and ADU.
The options were:
a. Reach an agreement with the neighbor b. Infiltration system c. Sump pump system
Due to the geotechnical engineer's findings at the site, option b was ruled out, and option a was never an option for the homeowner.
CESCO designed the sump pump system and a special planter at the outlet point to control the discharging pressure and meet AHJ requirements.
