Why SWPPP compliance slips
Most violations are not design failures. They are documentation and maintenance failures: missing inspection logs, BMPs that were installed and never repaired, or a plan that no longer matches the site.
The essentials
- Register under the Construction General Permit before ground disturbance.
- Install and maintain erosion and sediment controls appropriate to the site risk level.
- Inspect on the required schedule and before and after qualifying rain events.
- Keep records current and on site.
